We are the Wellington Unit of the Air Training Corps – a voluntary, disciplined, uniformed youth leadership training organisation.
When you join the ATC you get to do lots of stuff that you wouldn’t be able to do with many other organisations.
Some activities you will get to experience with ATC include flying a plane (or a glider, or a helicopter!), camping and tramping in New Zealand’s great outdoors, target shooting with our rifles, visiting an operational Air Force Base, challenging other local units in competitions, and making a heap of new friends.
Not only do we help you have great experiences, we help you learn the skills you need to get the most out of them!
At 1 Squadron we provide you with the opportunity to meet new people, have fun, gain confidence, learn how to work as a team, and how to be a leader as well.
The Cadet Unit Commander is:
Flying Officer Sophie Webber, NZCF, 027 382 6913
We parade every Thursday during school terms from 1820hrs to 2100hrs (6:20pm to 9pm) at:
Wellington Cadet Centre
393 Evans Bay Parade

The organisation is not part of the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF), but is directed by the Chief of Defence Force, on behalf of the Minister of Defence, and is supported in partnership by the NZDF and the community.
Training programmes emphasise personal development and include a quality, nationally co-ordinated annual programme.
