What We Do - General

We do heaps of different activities! Lots of these you wouldn’t be able to do anywhere else aside from in the New Zealand Cadet Forces. We have a strong focus on training, leadership, teamwork, and developing cadets to reach their full potential. Our training and activities include:
• Bushcraft Training
• Camps and tramps
• Abseiling
• Aviation Studies
• Flying
• Drill
• First Aid
• Fire Arms Safety
• Shooting
• Radio Communication
• Base Visits and Open Days
• Citizenship
• Teamwork Skills
• Leadership Skills
• Instructional Technique

We also do occasional longer trips – in the past these have included Courses at the Outdoor Pursuits Centre, Sea Kayaking in the Marlborough Sounds, a Road trip to the Warbirds over Wanaka Air Show, ski weekends and more.

For more information about some of what you might do in the ATC, click on the links on the left hand side of the page. There’s also a section called “National Courses” which you will get a chance to apply for once you have been a cadet for a while.
