Course Eligibility

Junior NCOCourse

  • have completed the first year of the training syllabus (i.e. be in Proficiency flight or above)
  • be recommended by their Cadet Unit Commander
  • be approved by the Area Co-ordinator

Senior NCO Course

  • Have qualified on a Junior Non-Commissioned Officers Course;
  • Have completed the second year of the Training Syllabus (i.e. be in Advanced Flight or above);
  • Are recommended by their CUCDR; and
  • Are approved by the AC

Cadet Bushcraft Course

  • have completed the second year of training,
  • must be medically fit and physically capable of completing the training,
  • have successfully completed the Junior Leaders Course
  • be recommended by their Cadet Unit Commander
  • be recommended by the Area Co-ordinator, and
  • are approved by HQ NZCF

National Aviation Course – Power Flying

  • be a minimum age of 16 years at start of course,
  • be under the age of 20 years at the completion of the course
  • have completed the second year of the Training Syllabus,
  • show a genuine interest in pursuing aviation,
  • be able to meet any course flying fees.
  • be recommended by their Cadet Unit Commander
  • be recommended by the Area Co-ordinator, and
  • are approved by HQ NZCF

National Aviation Course – Navigation

  • be a minimum age of 15 years at start of course,
  • have completed the second year of training,
  • be able to meet any course flying fees,
  • be recommended by their Cadet Unit Commander,
  • be recommended by the Area Co-ordinator, and
  • are approved by HQ NZCF

RNZAF Flying Scholarship

  • Are a minimum of 16 years of age the at the start of the activity,
  • Have qualified on the NZCF National Aviation course (Power),
  • Have received a recommendation from the National Aviation course (Power),
  • Have completed the second year syllabus of the Training Manual,
  • Show a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the RNZAF as Aircrew,
  • Are recommended by CUCDR,
  • be recommended by the Area Co-ordinator, and
  • are approved by HQ NZCF.

National Cadet Gliding Course

  • be a minimum age of 15 years at start of course,
  • be able to meet any course flying fees, and
  • have completed the second year of training.

Air Force Experience for New Zealand Cadet Forces Cadets – TBC
(Enquire if interested and outside the criteria stated)

  • must be medically fit,
  • be between the ages of 16 and 19 years at start of course,
  • have completed a minimum of two years Cadet Forces service,
  • have stated a desire to join the RNZAF,
  • be recommended by their Unit Commander, and
  • have completed and submitted a 200 word essay entitled ‘Why I want to join the RNZAF”.

Shooting Coaches Course – TBC

NZCF Officers:
Consideration will be given to NZCF Officers, who have met the prerequisites, and:

  1. Are recommended by their CUCDR; and
  2. Are recommended by their Area Co-ordinator.

NZCF Under Officers:
Consideration will be given to NZCF Under Officers, who have met the prerequisites, and:

  1. Have completed all of the firearms training syllabus of the Corps Training Programme; and
  2. Are recommended by their CUCDR; and
  3. Are recommended by their Area Co-ordinator.

NZCF Senior Non-Commissioned Officers:
Consideration will be given to NZCF SNCOs, who have met the prerequisites, and:

  1. Have attained the rank of SSGT (E); and
  2. Have completed all of the firearms training syllabus of the Corps Training Programme; and
  3. Are recommended by their CUCDR; and
  4. Are recommended by their Area Co-ordinator.
