Our Staff

Cadet Unit Commander (CUCDR). Flying Officer (FGOFF) Whitcombe transferred to No. 1 Squadron in 2015 as an Under Officer. She is studying Law at Victoria University. She hails from the West Coast of the South Island. She went through all the ranks at No. 36 (Greymouth) Squadron, including Warrant Officer. She completed the Junior and Senior Non-Commissioned Officer courses in 2011 and 2012, respectively. She completed the Cadet Bushcraft course in 2013 and in 2014 travelled to Canada through the International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE) program.

FGOFF Whitcombe commissioned in 2017 and attained the rank of Flying Officer in 2019. She has completed the Fieldcraft, Instructional Technique and Training Management, and Command courses. She is a qualified Range Conducting Officer (RCO) and has staffed several NZCF courses. At the end of 2020 she took over command of both No. 1 Squadron and Wellington City Cadet Unit.

Executive Officer (XO). Pilot Officer (PLTOFF) Michael Totton started as a Cadet with No. 2 (Hutt City) Squadron in Petone in 2013. He progressed through the ranks to Under Officer and in April 2019 he transferred to No. 1 (City of Wellington) Squadron. He was commissioned in May of 2019 and has held the Unit Adjutant and Unit Training Officer Appointments before being appointed as the XO. He has completed the Fieldcraft, Instructional Technique and Training Management, Shooting Coaches, and Range Conducting Officer courses.

Unit Officer. Pilot Officer (PLTOFF) Mudd started as a cadet in the United Kingdom. After immigrating to New Zealand, he joined the NZCF in 2015 and was commissioned as an officer in 2016. He took command of No. 1 (City of Wellington) Squadron in 2017 and for 2020 also had joint command of both 1 Squadron and Wellington City Cadet Unit. He handed over command of both Units at the end off 2020 and now just serves No. 1 Sqiadron.
